Electric Bicycle Conversion

There are at least three good reasons for an electric bicycle conversion.  The first reason is that in many places, the cost of fuel is prohibitive.  Therefore, there are many people who are looking for alternative transportation, and the bicycle is among the least expensive.  However, the bicycle has some serious drawbacks, especially if you live a long way from the place where you work, or if you live in an area that has a lot of hills.  The solution for many is an electric bicycle conversion.

An Electric Bicycle Conversion will work by turning your unpowered bicycle into an electrically assisted bike.  There are three major advantages to an electrically assisted bicycle.  An electrically assisted bike can turn a commute that is full of steep hills into a fun run to work, instead of a dreaded workout before work.  This is because it is the electric motor, not the cyclist that works harder going up hills.  The cyclist only needs to maintain a casual speed, and allow the motor to do the work. Not only is this an easier way to commute to and from work, it also encourages physical fitness by making it easier to do.

This brings up the second major advantage of owning an electrically assisted bicycle.  It may seem counterintuitive, but studies show that people who own electrically assisted bicycles tend to use them more often.  In several studies, more people who own electrically assisted bicycles used them at least once a week than did people who owned regular bicycles.  Thus, many of those who owned an electrically assisted bicycle were more physically fit than those who owned a regular bike.

The third reason to convert an unpowered bike into an electrically-assisted bicycle is speed.  Simply stated, people riding an electrically-assisted bicycle got where they were going faster, without having to deal with the legal issues and vehicle registration issues raised by moped or motorcycle ownership.  They also avoided the hassle at the gas pump by not having to pay for gasoline, especially if they use rechargeable batteries.  It is much cheaper to recharge a battery than it is to buy a gallon of gas, especially outside of the United States.
